District club officers in Lions Clubs International (LCI) refer to the elected and appointed leaders serving on the district cabinet. This team, led by the district governor, supports clubs within a geographic district to promote membership growth, service projects, leadership development, and adherence to LCI guidelines. The district cabinet includes elected executive officers (district governor, first vice district governor, and second vice district governor) and other appointed positions such as cabinet secretary and cabinet treasurer. These roles are defined in the International Constitution and By-Laws, Standard District Constitution and By-Laws, and the Board Policy Manual.

Due to the hierarchical nature of Lions Clubs International, members have the opportunity to advance from a local club to an office at the zone, district, multiple district, and international levels.<ref></ref> Requirements emphasize active membership, good standing, leadership experience, and commitment to Lions principles. All officers must adhere to ethical standards, including no partisan political or sectarian religious involvement in their roles.<ref></ref>

General Requirements for All District Cabinet Officers

  • Membership Status: Must be an active member in good standing of a chartered Lions club in good standing within the district.<ref></ref> This includes paying all required international, district, and club dues on time and not being under any suspension or disciplinary action.
  • Ethical Conduct: Must uphold the Lions Code of Ethics, avoiding conflicts of interest, personal gain, or actions unbecoming of a Lion (e.g., no endorsement of political candidates or use of the role for personal benefit).<ref></ref>
  • Training and Development: Expected to complete relevant leadership training, such as through the Lions Learning Center, Regional Lions Leadership Institute (RLLI), or district-specific programs. For example, vice district governors must participate in mandatory training programs.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Must report officer details via the Lion Portal by May 15 annually and ensure district compliance with LCI policies, including financial reporting and club visits.<ref></ref>
  • Term Limits and Succession: Officers serve one-year terms (July 1–June 30). Lions who have previously served as district governor are ineligible for re-election to district governor or vice district governor positions.<ref></ref>
